About this Event

Today, as universities, political institutions, and cultural spaces continue to debate the legitimacy of this work, the question remains: what is the role of Black Studies now?

Moderated by Kemar Anglin, this in-person conversation with scholar and writer Michael E. Sawyer reflects on the evolving place of Black thought in contemporary culture. Together, they will explore the philosophical and cultural traditions that shape Black intellectual life, from ideas like Sankofa (returning to the past in order to move forward)to the speculative possibilities opened through Afro-futurism.

Hosted within an intimate luxury design space, this evening invites guests into a reflective dialogue on Black creativity, knowledge, and the future of Black intellectual work.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early and remain after for a cocktail hour full of music and food!
