About this Event
Three Sisters may be Chekhov’s most “dramatic” play, in heavy air quotes. Even though there are fires, duels, and affairs, his characters are still humans who sleep late, repeat themselves and complain constantly. By watching just the first act of Three Sisters through Olga’s memories, we focus on these human moments that jump out in a memory, regardless of whatever high drama lies ahead. We may know of the future fires, murders, affairs, or we may not, but today, we watch Masha reading, Anfisa cleaning, or Vershinin rambling on and on. In memory, these tiny moments, glances, and touches become the most important things in the world.
