About this Event
Volunteers are needed to help cleanup trash and other debris from Three Ponds on Wednesday, June 26th from 6-8 p.m. Three Ponds is a 42-acre preserve that Little Forks Conservancy acquired in 2021. Three large-sized ponds cover over 10 acres of the property and provide habitat for beaver, turtles, egrets, bass and bluegill. A rustic trail follows along the eastern and western border of the northernmost pond, providing access to the other two ponds. Recreational opportunities at Three Ponds include fishing, hiking and bird watching.
What we’ll be doing: Volunteers will help restore the habitat of Three Ponds by collecting trash and other debris! Volunteers may also help with invasive species removal by helping cut down invasive shrubs and small trees.
What to bring: Closed toe shoes are required. Attendees should bring gloves and water, if available, as well as a pair of loppers and a handsaw. Little Forks will provide supplies for the cleanup such as gloves, saftety glasses, grabbers, and trash bags, as well as extra pruning tools.
Location and time: Three Ponds, located on 2739 West North Union Road. The event will start on Wednesday, June 26th at 6 p.m.
Directions: From Midland, take E Patrick Road until it turns into West North Union Road, just past the US-10 overpass. The natural area is located about a half mile down the road after the overpass, on the right hand side. The property is currently being developed into a natural area and does not have an official parking area at this time! Attendees can park on the south shoulder of the road along the property boundary where an LFC staff member will be to guide volunteers. Attendees should use caution when entering and exiting vehicles and walking along the road side.
