Meet The Families We're Rallying Behind:
Grace in the Storm for Brandon: Brandon Sistad
This past October, Brandon and Alicia pledged their love before God and began their life together in marriage. Just two short months later, their world was turned upside down. Brandon has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is currently unable to work, and Alicia, a devoted new bride, has stepped immediately into the role of full-time caregiver.
As they navigate this unexpected journey, they are supporting a blended family of three children, caring for a new home, and facing a sudden loss of income. Any financial support will go directly toward medical expenses, household bills, and food.
In July of 2025, after weeks of repeated hospitalizations, Tim was diagnosed with hepatorenal syndrome, affecting both his liver and kidneys. Tim’s doctors at UPENN determined that he urgently needed a liver transplant.
Tim received the life-saving gift of a liver from a deceased donor, sparing his son, Timmy, from undergoing surgery as a living donor.
Although Tim’s liver transplant was successful, his kidneys did not recover, requiring dialysis three days a week. With hope ahead, Tim will receive a kidney transplant from his sister, Amy, with surgery scheduled for March 4, 2026.
Tim is a devoted husband to Dina and father of three boys — is facing the fight of his life, with multiple transplants and long hospital stays ahead.
My journey began in 2004 when complications from surgery awakened a dormant disease, Sarcoidosis, and left me fighting for my life. I spent five months in the hospital, much of it in a drug-induced coma. Years later, in 2013, I received a bilateral lung transplant — a gift that gave me something I feared I had lost forever: time. Time with my wife of 36 years and our two children.
I was later blessed to meet my donor’s family — a family who, in their deepest grief, chose to give life. Their daughter’s gift saved me and two others. That kind of selflessness changes you forever.
In 2023, my journey continued when I needed a kidney transplant. My sister Kathleen stepped forward without hesitation. After months of testing, she was a perfect match. Because of her courage and love, I am now breathing on my own and free from dialysis.
I have been given not one, but two second chances at life. Because of extraordinary generosity, I am still here — grateful beyond words.
Organ donation saves lives. Please consider becoming a donor!
