Friends of Lace Limerick are organising a series of events in the Limerick City Library, as part of August Craft Month.A pop-up exhibition of lace will be open in the upstairs room of the library throughout the day (10am – 5pm). Titled Threads of Beauty: A Pop-Up Celebration of Limerick Lace , the exhibition will include pieces from the personal collections of our members – some contemporary and some traditional. We will also have a section dedicated to other laces of Ireland.
From 12pm to 3pm, you will be able to discover lace makers sitting in different parts of the library, as part of the Lace in the Library: Meet the Makers . We will demonstrate Limerick lace, Borris lace, Youghal lace, Headford lace and Clones lace.
At 3pm, Gabriela Avram will give a talk titled Entwined Stories: A Talk on Ireland’s Lace Traditions, that will include a presentation of different Irish laces and an update on the Laces of Ireland project.
The events are supported by the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland through the #AugustCraftMonth initiative.
