About this Event
Notts Trans Hub (NTH) is currently NAE’s artists-in-residence. NTH is a community-led charity organisation dedicated to supporting trans people in any form it takes. Their mission is to combat social exclusion resulting from prejudice and historic injustice through peer support and community building.
On Saturday 30 November, NTH member, Laurie Owen, will lead an informal session over tea and coffee in our café that aims to generate lively discussion between trans and cis people from a variety of intersectional backgrounds about how everyone uses clothes to construct gender. Whether you like to chuck a t-shirt on, or you spend hours curating outfits, everyone has something to share and learn here. Your reflections during the event will be captured and represented anonymously as a colourful map, which will be displayed at a future date as part of NTS’s residency at NAE.
Laurie Owen is a trans male theatre practitioner and educator. Laurie has previously lead workshops at Nottingham Playhouse, and his solo show Some Other Mirror draws parallels between trans and cis masculinities.
Space on this event is limited so please book in advance to avoid disappointment.
