A performance installation to radically imagine a liveable future - by ShyBairn Theatre in partnership with the University of St Andrews
About this Event

About the event:

From mushroom bricks and earthships, to teleportation in the blink of an eye, the utopian dreams of teenagers meet the climate solutions of academics in this performance installation for climate hope. Together, we’ll visualise a liveable future. Only then can we fight for it.

"A bit of euphoria" - Audience member

Awareness of the climate crisis & its impacts has grown hugely in recent years. Yet the focus is on the horrors that unfold if we stick with the status quo. Unearthing these horrors isn’t igniting change fast enough; we think it’s time for a different approach focussed on hope, optimism and big ideas.

“It is more important than ever to harness the optimism & imagination required to build the world we so urgently need. We need a new narrative, a new story for the future.” - Alice Aedy, Climate Storyteller

30 minute performances every hour. You can move freely through the space, take a seat with a performer to share a story, or listen to a calming meditation of ideas.

Garden Admission will be DAISY (Donate As It Suits You) for this event.

Recipient of Camden People's Theatre's Outside The Box Commission. Supported by the University of St Andrews’ Impact and Innovation Fund and The Royal Victoria Hall Foundation.

About ShyBairn:

ShyBairn make theatre for social change. We collaborate with young people and academics to create performance as a form of climate activism. Founded by Caitlin Evans, a theatre-maker and producer from Newcastle living in London, graduate of The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

ShyBairn’s 2023 production BURNOUT toured the UK to venues including Live Theatre, South St Arts Centre and Theatre by the Lake. We have been working with Dr. Charlotte Lee of the University of St Andrews to bring their current project to audiences in St Andrews.
