About this Event
This Is Aging: A Conversation on The Impacts of Ageism and Social Isolation
Facilitated by Ruth Tamari (PhD Student, McMaster University), Amanda Bull (PhD Candidate, McMaster University), and alumni of the University of Toronto's Intergenerational Classroom
Join us at L. R. Wilson Hall (Room 1057) at McMaster University on Thursday March 19, 2026 from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM (ET) forThis Is Aging, a dynamic series of workshops that aims to challenge stereotypes about aging and foster connection across generations. This session is co-hosted with the Gilbrea Centre for Studies in Aging at McMaster University.
Join us for an interactive session where we explore how individuals of all ages can be impacted by ageism, including how it works as a major driver of social isolation and how it shapes older adults' experiences in the workplace and labour market. We will work together on building awareness, identifying risk factors, and creating some practical strategies for building meaningful human interactions.
In this session, we will have an open conversation about the impacts of ageism, and consider aspects from the perspectives of both younger and older generations.
It's a chance to share stories, learn from each other, and connect with people of all ages. We invite you to be part of the conversation about aging, life, and everything in between!
This event is free (but registration is required), and open to all seniors, students, caregivers, educators, healthcare professionals, and interested community members. Refreshments will be provided.
We invite you to join us at our other This Is Aging sessions. Please find a list of other sessions here:
