It's back! Parkyard ultra! On Saturday 20 June, to mark Broad Park parkrun #200, a group of hardy runners, joggers, and walkers are going to take part in the third annual traditional 'parkyard ultra', where they complete a selection of the Christchurch parkruns in one day.
This year’s itinerary is as follows:
6.30am Scarborough
8.00am Broad Park (official parkrun)
9.30am Riverlution
11.00am Hagley Park
12.30pm Broad Park (out and back)
1.30pm onwards Brighton Beach House Cafe
If you want to join in, simply turn up at Scarborough clock tower at 6.30am, or any of the other times above. For any questions, email [email protected].
FAQs
Why are start times now added?
So people can pick and choose which events they want to run if they don’t want to do them all.
Why are there fewer events than last year?
This is to allow more people to complete all runs, not take the entire day and reduce travel times and petrol costs (by this date there should be nine events in Christchurch and its surrounds).
Why is Broad Park twice?
This event to celebrate Broad Parks 200th event so we want to be there for both the official event and the finale.
Will there be an event for all parkruns in Christchurch and its surrounds?
This isn’t something we’re planning for 20 June, however there is nothing to stop anyone else from planning this, maybe in the summer months when there is more daylight. There is also no reason people could not just continue running the other courses after finishing Hagley on 20 June if they so wished, it’s just not part of the event we’re organising.
What if we don't make the cut off time of the different starts?
We will be looking to have a tailwalker/runner for each event and in the unlikely event that they have not made it to the next parkrun by the designated time, we will delay until they arrive.
How do we get between events?
We recommend you carpool with your fellow parkrunners.
But an ultra is 50km and this isn’t 50km. Why are you calling it an ultra?
Because it’s ultra fun, not ultra long.
