About this Event
How can we help people see and understand the many dimensions of a thriving physical community?
are monthly in-person events for professionals in any industry looking to expand their visual communication toolkit and be inspired by meaningful stories about the power of creativity and visual storytelling.
OUR SPEAKER: An experienced communications strategist with expertise in community engagement and research-based policy design, Brittany Hyman is all about people, places, and the stories they share. She will be answering questions such as:
- How do the signs, sounds, and words that are characteristic of our neighborhoods shape our lives?
- How do neighborhood signs and signifiers drive belonging, perception, and economic development?
- What is urban planning, and how can it be made accessible in the communities that need it most?
Over the course of a decade working for the City of Houston government, Brittany navigated major disaster events and recovery efforts, as well as conducted crisis management.
Brittany was trusted to respond to requests for information, resulting in unprecedented engagement and national recognition.
Along with her husband, Jason Hyman, she runs Houston's only real estate firm offering both brokerage and urban planning services through media training, personal branding, and marketing.
As a boutique firm with an innovative approach to planning, development, and placemaking, every story they tell — and problem they solve — serves as a guidepost for an inclusive future built on a small scale with a considerable impact.
The Office of Jason T. Hyman was recently awarded the Grassroots Initiative Award by the American Planning Association's Texas Chapter.
