About this Event
Centered on the idea of chess as a moving art, the program invites youth, families, and community members of all skill levels to engage with strategy, culture, and connection in a vibrant museum setting. Guests are welcome to compete, learn, observe, and celebrate the cultural impact of chess in Washington, D.C., and beyond.
The Big Chair Chess Club, guided by the motto “Think B4U Move,” empowers youth and communities through chess-based education, mentorship, and life skills development. By blending chess with social-emotional learning and STEAM education, the club transforms the game into a platform for personal growth, opportunity, and community impact.
