There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe… Now There’s a Village for You

This community baby shower is a family-centered gathering created to ensure that no family feels unsupported on their journey through pregnancy and postpartum. Rooted in love, care, and community, the event welcomes pregnant and postpartum families, parents, caregivers, and all support persons.

In honor of Black Maternal Health Week and Black Doula Week, this gathering intentionally centers Black families and birthing people—holding space for education, advocacy, and culturally rooted support.

Guided by a biopsychosocial approach, this experience nurtures the whole person through the 5 senses of care:

  • 👁️ Sight — calming visuals, affirmations, and womb-centered imagery
  • 🎶 Sound — music, guided affirmations, and community voices
  • ✋🏽 Touch — hands-on resources, self-care items, and nurturing support
  • 👃🏽 Smell — soothing scents, herbs, and grounding aromas
  • 👅 Taste — nourishing snacks, teas, and shared meals

Each element is intentionally designed to support the body, mind, and community, creating a sacred, welcoming space where families feel seen, held, and empowered.

Because it truly takes a village and here, you have one.
