You are not the problem. The pressure is. A creative wellness space for women of color to explore, reflect, and reconnect.
About this Event

ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

You’ve been holding a lot… and still showing up like everything is fine. You are not the problem. The pressure is.

Therapeutically Crafted™ is a six-month, in-person creative wellness experience for women of color designed to explore how perfectionism shapes the way we create, connect, and show up in our lives.

Through hands-on crafting, reflective writing, and guided community conversation, each session creates space to build self-compassion, deepen emotional awareness, and develop a new relationship with expectations… your own and everyone else’s. This is not a class. This is not therapy. This is a community of women doing the slow, meaningful work of letting go of the pressure to be perfect… together.

You don’t have to come in ready.

You can come exactly as you are.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Each monthly session runs approximately 2.5 hours and includes three core experiences:

Crafting Experience (1 Hour) A hands-on creative activity led by a women-owned partner artist. No artistic experience needed. Every craft is chosen intentionally to mirror the session’s emotional theme. All materials are provided.

Narrative Writing (30 Minutes) Guided journaling prompts connected to the month’s theme. This is private reflection time. Nothing is shared unless you choose to. You keep your journal.

Community Reflection (20 Minutes) A guided group conversation rooted in care and psychological safety. You will be heard, witnessed, and affirmed. Participation is always optional.

PROGRAM FORMAT

Format: In-Person | Cohort-Based | Monthly Sessions

Duration: Six months — May through October 2026

Session Length: 2.5 hours per session

Frequency: Once per month | Last Saturday of each month

Location: Locations will be announced closer to the class date. Class will be in the Baltimore City/County radius.

This is a cohort experience — meaning the same group of women moves through all six sessions together. Community is built intentionally from Session 1 and deepens with each gathering. You will know the women in the room. You will grow alongside them.

Each session stands on its own, but the full journey is designed to be experienced as a whole. The themes build on one another — what you explore in May becomes the foundation for what you uncover in October.

Between sessions, participants are connected through a shared online community space with discussion posts, reflection prompts, and peer support so the growth doesn't pause when the session ends.

PARTICIPANTS

Therapeutically Crafted™ is designed for a specific community, and that intentionality matters. Please read before registering:

Who this program is for:

  • Women of color — Black, Brown, and Indigenous women of color
  • Ages 25–40 (recommended but must be over 18+)
  • Women who are curious about how perfectionism shows up in their lives
  • Women who are open to creative expression as a form of self-exploration
  • Women who want community — not just content

What we ask of participants:

  • Commitment — Full Series participants are expected to attend all six sessions. Your presence matters to the cohort, not just to yourself
  • Openness — You do not need to have any experience with therapy, journaling, or crafting. You only need to be willing to show up
  • Confidentiality — What is shared in the room stays in the room. Every participant agrees to this as a condition of joining
  • Respect — This is a space built on care, not competition. We ask that every participant honor the experiences and boundaries of others

What is NOT required:

  • Any prior experience with crafting, art, or creative work
  • Any prior experience with therapy or wellness programs
  • Sharing anything personal you are not comfortable sharing
  • Being "ready" — you can come exactly as you are

A note on capacity: This cohort is limited to 20 participants. This is intentional. Smaller groups create deeper community, more meaningful facilitation, and a safer space for everyone in the room. Once the cohort is full, a waitlist will open for future cohorts.

WHAT TO BRING
  • Yourself, exactly as you are
  • A water bottle
  • Anything that helps you feel grounded — a cozy layer, your favorite pen, a small comfort item

Everything else is provided: all craft materials, journaling prompts, and light refreshments.

Monthly Summaries
Session 1 — May 30 Beginning Without Certainty

Info: We open the journey by practicing what it feels like to start before you're ready. Through an open-ended creative experience with no right answer, we name how perfectionism shows up at the starting line and begin building our cohort community. Featuring co-facilitator Sam Smith with New Vintage By Sam.

Session 2 — June 27 Releasing the Pressure to Perform

Info: We examine where the need to perform comes from and whose voice is driving it. Through the lens of the 7 Inner Critics, we begin loosening the connection between our worth and our output.

Session 3 — July 25 The Uncomfortable Middle

Info:
We sit with the hardest phase — the messy, doubt-filled middle where most of us give up. We practice staying present with unfinished work and build tolerance for uncertainty. Featuring co-facilitator B. Arnett with The Dappled Wood.

Session 4 — August 29 Listening to What Emerges

Info: We slow down and learn to hear what our body, emotions, and intuition are telling us. Through sensory-based creative work, we practice trusting internal signals over external expectations. Featuring co-facilitator Mary Ortiz with LNL Beauty Co.

Session 5 — September 26 Redefining Progress

Info: We challenge productivity as the only measure of growth. We identify the internal shifts that often go unnoticed and begin building a personal language for what progress actually means. Featuring co-facilitator Tanae Smith, LCPC with Tanaecious Therapeutics.

Session 6 — October 31 Integrating the Process

Info: We close the journey with reflection, not evaluation. We honor everything the six months have offered and carry it forward not with pressure for completion, but with intention for what comes next. Featuring co-facilitator Khadee Roberts with Lune & Line.
