“We don’t stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing” George Bernard ShawA playful, creative space for adults who want to explore theatre beyond scripts and performances. In this English-speaking workshop, we will work with:
• Theatre games & creative exercises
• Improvisation & spontaneity
• Body, voice & emotional expression
• Play, connection & presence
• Basic acting tools and techniques
Participants will have the chance to:
• Explore new ways of expressing themselves through theatre
• Boost their awareness, communication skills & confidence
• Meet new people and connect with them through play
• Step out of routine and into creativity
• Have fun in a supportive, non-judgmental environment
This workshop is perfectly suitable for people with zero or little acting experience, but it is also recommended for anyone who has had acting courses in the past and wishes to refresh their skills and explore. Native or fluent English speakers will find a relaxed environment in which to express themselves, while it can also be an opportunity for Greek people wishing to practice their English language skills (a high level of English is required). Everyone who has passion or curiosity for theatre is more than welcome!
If participants feel inspired to share something that emerged from the group’s work at the end, this possibility remains open even though the workshop prioritizes the process and the experience itself over a final performance.

Ioanna-Maria Bati was born in Piraeus in 1986. She initially studied at the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting at the Ionian University of Corfu and at Université Marc Bloch in Strasbourg. She later trained for two years at Theatre of Changes and at the Higher School of Dramatic Art “Archi” founded by Nelli Karra, from which she graduated.
She is a certified group facilitator through the program “Training in Group Facilitation and Empowerment” of the Centre for Lifelong Learning (KE.DI.VI.M.) of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
As an actress, she has mainly worked in theatre, participating in classical and contemporary productions for both adult and young audiences. She has been trained in a wide range of theatrical approaches and acting techniques (K. Stanislavski, S. Meisner, M. Chekhov, Jacques Lecoq, J. Grotowski, A. Boal, among others) and continues to explore.
Alongside her artistic practice, since 2009 she has been involved in experiential foreign-language education (English, French, Greek) through theatre games and other theatrical techniques. She has worked as a facilitator with children, teenagers and adults in non-formal education institutions, theatre organizations as well as in school and festival-related programs.
In recent years, she has been working as a trainer in Erasmus+ mobility programs, focusing on theatre as a tool for personal development, education and social inclusion.
