On this day, April 5th 1912, John Le Mesurier the actor and all round good egg was born. He's best remembered for his portrayal of the slightly bemused Sergeant Wilson in the popular sitcom 'Dads Army'. He was also a popular characte actor in films of the 1960s and 70s .His last words were "On the whole its all been rather lovely".Since we started the Yorkshire Fleamarkets in 2017 we have aspired to make them rather lovely. At Skipton Auction Mart, we bring together around 100 dealers in cool, desirable, unusual old things in the fully accessible step free venue, with ample free parking and an onsite cafe. We open to the public between 9am and 4pm.
Admission to this well regarded and popular event is £4 per adult and accompanied under 16s are admitted free of charge (bring your dads we like a Dad's Army). This is the first event of our 2026 season. We are holding six flea markets between Easter and the end of October - three at Skipton and three at Thirsk Auction Mart.
