About this Event
The Written Artefact workshop explores the significance of letters as objects of memory, aligning with Idle Talk's first issue theme, 'Everyday Objects'. This workshop will be guided by Maja Klimt and Jacquelyn Tepper.
Through gentle body movements, participants will connect with memories on a physical level before engaging with letter-writing as a way to document everyday life. Together, we'll explore how letters preserve personal and cultural memory, touching on themes of personal growth, cultural documentation and the materiality of memory.
The workshop includes discussions, writing exercises and reflections, revealing letters as powerful, tangible links to both past and present. All materials will be provided.
This event is part of a wider programme to support the launch of Idle Talk, a grassroots quarterly publication dedicated to surfacing personal stories from everyday people.
Embracing a new concept of the participatory archive, Idle Talk aims to involve people, and especially those who have been neglected or overlooked in mainstream narratives, in the storytelling process and allow them to contribute to how their histories are preserved and represented.
We believe in building a community around these stories, and we look forward to meeting more people along the way!
