The World of Yesterday
A journey through changing orchestral sound
In this program, Orchestra Lagrandt reconstructs a moment of transition: from the expressive freedom of late Romanticism to the refined clarity of early modern style. Each work reflects a different musical school from the turn of the century — from late Romanticism to Impressionism and Neoclassicism.
Music by Richard Wagner, Maurice Ravel and Benjamin Britten is performed using historically informed techniques, revealing how vibrato, phrasing and orchestral colour evolved across just a few decades.
The result is not only a program of familiar names, but a different way of hearing them.
