About this Event
Tell me more...
Faced with multiple overlapping crises (climate breakdown, war, injustice, biodiversity loss etc), we have the great privilege of living on Earth at a pivotal point in history. It can be challenging to process and we find many ways to avoid facing our feelings. This group will provide ways to safely express our fears, sadness, anger, numbness, hopes (and much more) and enable us to see a path forward.
‘The Work That Reconnects’ (WTR) is a group process developed by activist, author and Ecologist and Buddhist scholar Joanna Macy, informed by many spiritual and indigenous wisdoms, traditions and practices.
In this 10 week course we will follow the WTR Spiral to honour and move through our responses to these times, unblocking our defences so we can discover our unique role and next steps towards creating a life-sustaining society. We will alternate between group sessions and ‘study-buddy’ pair work, guiding you through a process of ‘Active Hope’, resilience and community.
Our 10 week WTR Spiral Journey Overview:
18:00 - 20:30 every other Thursday
Week 1 (30th Jan): Resourcing through Gratitude
Week 3 (13th Feb): Honouring our (more challenging) feelings for the world
Week 5 (27th Feb): Seeing with New and Ancient Eyes
Week 7 (13th March): Liberation and Justice
Week 9 (27th March): Going Forth - Connecting to Your Unique Role and Gifts
Between group sessions people will meet in smaller 'study buddy' groups for integrating the process and peer support. The time and location of these small group sessions will be up to the participants to decide.
