About this Event
Inspired by a woven blanket, the Witness Blanket is a large-scale work of art. It contains hundreds of items reclaimed from residential schools, churches, government buildings and traditional and cultural structures from across Canada. This VR experience will be a space for listening, remembering, and honouring truth and reconciliation.
LOCATION: This event will take place in the CReaTe Lab (Rm. B004) in the MacLaurin Building, B-Wing.
DURATION: We recommend 10 minutes to explore the Witness Blanket in Virtual Reality.
The experience can accommodate 1 person at a time.
Reservations are recommended. To ensure a smooth experience for everyone, start and end times will be followed.
This event is part of the School of Music’s festival — a three-day gathering (Jan 30–Feb 1) that serves as a meeting place for UVic’s most adventurous creators. Bringing together student and faculty composers, improvisers, instrument builders, thinkers, and listeners, Sounding Grounds invites audiences to experience the vibrant and continually shifting landscape of contemporary sound.
