The 2025-2026 season opens in the Drawing Room of the Confederate Home and College with a nod to the upcoming 250th Anniversary of the United States. The program begins with wind marches from the Revolutionary War era, evoking the spirit of independence. We continue with a wind trio by François Devienne, an 18th-century composer who began in the Military Band of the French Guard and became the first flute professor at the Paris Conservatory after France’s revolution. The concert concludes with Beethoven’s Op. 87 Wind Quartet, a work that reflects the revolutionary energy and creative transformation of early 19th-century Europe.Regina Helcher Yost, flute
