ABOUT THE MUSIC
The distinctiveness of Scots culture is expressed by a French impressionist, a German romantic, and, longtime Scottish resident, Peter Maxwell Davies. Actually, an Englishman by birth, Davies was a devoted member of the Orkney Islands community in Scotland and wrote this wild, celebratory piece for John Williams and the Boston Pops. The inevitable bagpipe makes its obligatory appearance in this carefully curated program.
