Based on Bill Bennett’s book of the same name, The Way, My Way is the charming and captivating true story of an Australian man's transformative experience walking the Camino de Santiago, and the people he meets along the way that changed his life forever.
The Way, My Way is based on the best-selling memoir by Bill Bennett (The Nugget, Kiss or K*ll, In a Savage Land) of the same name. Bill has now written and directed this delightful and transportive adaptation of his book. It tells the transformative story of his experience walking the historic 800KM Camino de Santiago trail in Spain, the people and places he saw on the way, and how they changed him as a person —one step at a time.
This is the first narrative feature film about the Camino since The Way. The film features Chris Haywood (Muriel's Wedding, Kiss or K*ll), Jennifer Cluff (Kiss or K*ll, In a Savage Land), Pia Thunderbolt (Three Thousand Years of Longing, Here Out West), and Laura Lakshmi (TV's Colin from Accounts, Home and Away)
ABOUT THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO
El Camino, Camino de Santiago and The Way all refer to the network of paths that lead to the tomb of St James in Santiago de Compostela, in the northwest of Spain.
It's estimated that around 6 million people walk at least part of the Camino de Santiago each year, with Australia ranking in the top 10 participating countries. A new record number of pilgrims walked the Camino in 2023 and that number is expected to grow significantly in the years ahead.
