On July 23rd, 2023, the Mirror Lounge Collective will be launching the inaugural edition of The Viola Awards, the first-ever initiative that honours beauty professionals who use their platforms to promote societal change. Inspired by trailblazer and prominent Canadian figure Viola Desmond, the Viola Awards is a grassroots movement that gives back to the community, celebrates diversity, champions inclusion, and promotes corporate wellness.
Unlike most of the events in our industry that focus on the beauty we create, the Viola Awards recognize and promote individuals who are using their voices and platforms to effect change in the industry, particularly in addressing the issue of inadequate diversity and representation.
The Viola Awards will take place after the Textur'd Hair and Beauty Show, celebrating its 20th anniversary.
