About this Event
Join us and participate in a focus group for the EIF “Value of Outdoor Events” Research Project, a major national study funded by the Purple Guide and the Events Industry Forum and delivered in partnership with The Power of Events.
This research aims to build the most comprehensive evidence base to date on the social, community and economic value of outdoor events across the UK. Following the initial survey phase, where organisers and suppliers contributed event-level data, we are now moving into a deeper qualitative stage. Your insight and lived experience would make a meaningful contribution to shaping the sector’s future understanding, guidance, and advocacy.
Focus Group Themes
These sessions will explore three interconnected areas emerging from early findings:
• Social impacts
How outdoor events contribute to social cohesion, well-being, volunteering, skills development, placemaking, identity, and collective experiences.
• Wider community impacts
How events support local access, inclusion, partnerships, community-led activity, cultural vibrancy, and the role events play in strengthening local networks and resilience.
• Economic impacts
How outdoor events generate value through visitor spend, supply chain engagement, employment, business growth, regional development, and sector sustainability.
Your expertise will help us contextualise the quantitative data, identify nuances and gaps, and capture a fuller picture of how outdoor events shape places, communities, and economies.
All contributions will be anonymised in the final report.
