The Valley Forge Encampment-A lecture by Kenneth A. Gavin

This program examines three central questions.

• What was the impact of its presence in that physical location?
• What is the enduring legacy of the Valley Forge Encampment?

These questions are often overlooked or under-examined in narratives regarding the encampment.

Kenneth A. Gavin is a historian specializing in the American Revolution and Civil War eras. For nearly two decades, he has served as an encampment guide at Valley Forge National Historical Park and was a technical advisor for the park’s orientation film. His public history experience spans the Gettysburg and Philadelphia regions, and his field programs and lectures explore the complexity of military conflict from multiple perspectives.

This event is a a collaboration with Doylestown Historical Society and the Friends of the Doylestown Library.
