Watch experienced standup comics develop new bits and new comics just developing their acts at the UnClub (TM) at the Ypsi Alehouse in downtown Ypsilanti, MI. National Headliners such as Brad Wenzel, Mary Santora, and Andy Beningo, as well as award-winning professionals such as Barry Crimmins, Steve Smargon, Norm Stulz, and Jeffery Ford, in addition to long-respected writers such as Chili Challis, Steve Billnitzer, Jonny Lewis, and Ned Rice, have all been regulars at the UnClub's Sunday night showcases.
Comics and performers, please follow these procedures for requesting stage time on 3/9/25:
1 - IF YOU HAVE BEEN on an UnClub Showcase previously, just click "Going" on this Facebook Event. This is your REQUEST, not a confirmation.
2 - IF YOU HAVE NOT APPEARED IN AN UNCLUB SHOWCASE AT THE ALEHOUSE, send a Facebook Message to Mark Sweetman and request a spot. INCLUDE THE DATE FOR WHICH YOU ARE REQUESTING. If your request is received, Mark will acknowledge it with a reply. If you do not get a response from Mark Sweetman, your request was not received and you should attempt a second contact.
This event will be shared on Monday (3/3/24) on other social media sites, so get your spot early.
Once we have enough requests to fill a lineup for this show, we will create an event page similar to this page with instructions on how to request stage time for the show on the following Sunday. During busier times of the year, we sometimes create event pages up to 4 weeks ahead of the current date.
The show list will be published on this event page by Wednesday (3/5/25) at 5:00 pm. Any act that had an acknowledged request and is NOT on the show's confirmed list is AUTOMATICALLY on the WAITLIST.
- THERE ARE ONLY THREE TYPES OF GUARANTEED SPOTS.
1st Priority - Chili's Dojo participants, current dojoers first, then past participants. For information on joining Chili’s Comedy Dojo, please Facebook Message Mark Sweetman.
2nd Priority - Those acts denied spots on their last request. If you are on the waitlist, show up, and you may get a spot. If you DO NOT get a spot, you will be CONFIRMED for a spot on the next available UnClub opening.
3rd Priority - Special Requests for carpools and out-of-town acts.
All other spots are given at the showrunner's discretion at showtime.
- The line-up order will be created on Sunday 3/9/25 after 7:00 and announced at 7:15.
- Those arriving after the line-up is finalized and announced at 7:15, will be moved to the waitlist and will be given spots as time permits.
The length of stage time will depend largely on the turnout, the performer's experience, and the showrunner's discretion. Our gracious host, the Ypsi Alehouse has asked us to wrap up before 10:00 pm, so to some degree, we have a time constraint.
