Rebellion, angst and a disastrous love affair. Swallows Theatre CIC presents an adapted text of The Two Gentlemen of Verona by William Shakespeare.
‘’Two best friends, Proteus and Valentine, travel to Milan where they both fall in love with Sylvia. Sylvia loves Valentine, but Proteus pursues her despite the fact he has a girlfriend at home.’’
After the success of previous productions including Swallows & Amazons (2022), Hamlet (2024) and The Secret Garden (2025), Swallows Theatre CIC continue their work in telling contemporary stories with classical texts directed and led by young people. Developing agency, confidence and community through their intergenerational performances such as our upcoming Two Gentlemen of Verona.
This play shows young people at their best and at their worst. Working with this delightful story alongside an intergenerational company, many of whom are talented and empowered young people under the age of seventeen. We are able to uncover the depths of understanding young people have about the world we live in and their own relationships to each other. Adding contemporary pop music, comedic treats and a real, live-on-stage dog! The Two Gentlemen of Verona is a thrilling, energetic and powerful performance for ages 7 and up.
