The Toronto Songbook Vol. 3 - Celebrating Queen West in the 1980s! Toronto’s Queen Street West was the home for independent music in the 1980s, with a concentration of live music clubs presenting groups influenced by alt-country, punk, new wave and reggae. Artists such as The Parachute Club, Blue Rodeo, The Pursuit of Happiness, Cowboy Junkies, Lillian Allen, The Spoons, The Sattalites, Rough Trade, Leroy Sibbles, Barenaked Ladies and many others, emerged from the street that took over from Yonge Street and Yorkville as the centre of new music in Toronto. Hugh’s Room is bringing together several guest vocalists and musicians, some veterans of the 1980s and some just starting their careers, to celebrate the richness of the Queen West music scene! Thursday November 28.
296 Broadview is not yet a fully wheelchair accessible venue, with stairs between all levels. Our goal is to fix that, and we need your support to do so - please consider making a donation towards our goals to make HRL the best listening room in Toronto!
