About our speaker: Les Parks is an author and the Vice President of Horticulture at Norfolk Botanical Garden. He graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. He later received his Landscape Design Certificate from The George Washington University and became a Virginia Certified Horticulturist in 1994. Before joining the Norfolk Botanical Garden, he spent many years in retail garden centers where he enjoyed matching people with plants. He wrote the coastal report for the now defunct Virginia Gardener magazine from 2013 to 2018. Always willing to talk about plants, Les is a frequent guest on local television and is both an author and editor of gardening articles. He also publishes two very neglected blogs: A Tidewater Gardener and A Tidewater Paddler. He lives and gardens in Norfolk with his wife and an assortment of hounds.
