About this Event
Kordae Jatafa Henry’s THE THIRD HORIZON is a screening of three short films exploring speculative futures through ritual, movement, sound, and myth. Featuring Makara, Earth Mother, Sky Father, and an excerpt from IF NOT NOW, the program blends cinema, performance, architecture, and visual effects to examine memory, ecology, spirituality, and Black embodiment across shifting temporalities.
Born in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and shaped through his studies in Baltimore at Morgan State University’s architecture program, Henry approaches filmmaking through spatial thinking, constructed landscapes, and emotional atmosphere. Presented within a historic library and in collaboration with Lalibela, the screening reflects an ongoing dialogue between film, design, and worldbuilding.
The program also honors the broader creative lineage surrounding Lalibela and artists such as Bradford Young, Terence Nance, and Jenn Nkiru, whose cinematic language and collaborative ethos have helped shape Henry’s evolving approach to image-making and speculative storytelling.
