The Third Body:Jung-Jae Kim (tenorsaxofon)

The Third Body is a site-specific improvisational project that treats the duo not as two soloists, but as a single, multi-resonant instrument. Utilizing the unique acoustic properties of the tenor saxophone and the cello, Jung-Jae Kim and Vincent Laju
investigate the phenomenon of acoustic phantoms: difference tones, beating frequencies, and sympathetic resonances that emerge when two sound sources align with extreme precision.
Jung-Jae Kim (tenorsaxofon) “One of JazzTimes’ Top 10 Releases of 2025”
Based in Berlin, Kim is a master of "ritualistic" tenor saxophone. His work, including the critically acclaimed album Shamanism (Relative Pitch Records), explores the intersection of human perception and expanding sonic possibilities. For this project, Kim utilizes microtonal control and extended techniques to merge his reed-based textures with the cello’s string resonances.
Vincent Laju (cello) is a French composer and musician based in Berlin. He approaches the cello as a kinetic sculpture. Beyond his technical mastery, his work incorporates movement and spoken word to challenge the traditional boundary between performer and audience. His multidisciplinary background (visual arts, poetry, Shakuhachi) informs the "body-centric" philosophy of this duo.
