About this Event
Mitchell Petersen, Glen Vasel Professor of Finance, will share his outlook on finance and life in this candid conversation The Theory of Finance: Is It a Good Guide for Life’s Big Decisions?
The theory of finance tends to focus on questions where value can be expressed in monetary terms. The theory of finance also applies to our personal lives. It can guide our financing and investment decisions.
A challenge to applying this logic more broadly is many of the personal decisions we face cannot easily or accurately be reduced to monetary benefits and costs. In this unexpected parallel analysis of a quantifiable world, he will candidly share perspective other real-life applications and their outcomes.
Does the logic of financethat we teach in class have any relevance for the truly big investment decisions you must make in life? Prof Petersen will explore this question by examining several of the largest personal investment decisions you may make in your life. We are going to skip the math and statistics and instead focus on the stories and lessons from his personal experience.
This event is tailored to current students and is capped at 20 alums, so advance registration is encouraged to ensure your spot. Walk-ins will depend on space availability. You may arrive early for networking, dinner and drinks if you wish.
