Join Haley in this 1,5-hour intermediate/advanced-level solo jazz workshop! Explore rhythms, shapes and body expression as inspired by music and the jazz and tap dance forms. Get ready to learn how to express yourself better in your dance and improvise in the spirit of jazz music, as we participate in this Black American art form full of storytelling and self-expression.
????? ???
In this Lindy hop workshop, we will work on incorporating rhythms that are grounded in the music into our partnered dancing. We will work them into different shapes and patterns and focus on how we maintain a consistent connection to our partners, whether the space between us is big or small.
????? ???? is a second-generation Chinese immigrant to the US and has always loved music. She started from an early age of 6 playing classical piano, but as a teenager found she loved
the rhythms, improvisation and groove of jazz music. It was in Hong Kong in 2012 when she first discovered Lindy Hop and quickly found that her love of jazz and swing-era music extended
beyond listening to include how the music could be complemented, expressed and represented through dance.
Since then, she has had the privilege of being a guest dancer and educator in this African American culture. She’s taught in her local scenes of Hong Kong and Germany and in overseas festivals and workshops in the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Mainland China, Malaysia, and Taiwan, and won a number of competitions in both Lindy Hop and (solo) Jazz dance.
Loving Jazz music and forever a guest in African-American dance and culture, ??????? embraced Lindy Hop, a lifelong student eager to learn and share. His love for music translates to his dance, prioritizing joy and connection over perfection. While social dancing is his core passion, Florian's musical background bridges music and movement, making him a skilled dancer and instructor in Berlin. He thrives on learning journeys across Europe, ever the student, educator, and dancer at heart.

You have taken one or more blocks of solo jazz classes, and/or are familiar with some of the classic solo routines (e.g. Tranky Doo, Big Apple, Mama Stew). Are you an experienced solo jazz dancer? Then this workshop is also for you! Haley will make sure to give you some extra challenges.
????????????/???????? (??? ???????? ?????? ????? 2 / ????? 3)
You’re comfortable with the core rhythms and shapes of Lindy Hop, including 6- and 8-count, swing outs, sugar pushes, and Charleston (including tandem). You may not have perfected them yet, but you’ve built a solid foundation. At this level, you’re starting to create your own variations, understand frame and connection, and explore musicality. You're looking for inspiration to elevate your dancing to the next level.
????????+ (??? ????? 4 & ??)
You’ve been social dancing and attending festivals for years, and might teach local classes. You improvise with confidence, adapt easily to different partners, and can express musicality across a wide range of tempos. Your technique, rhythm, and creativity allow you to dance with clarity, playfulness, and individuality.
