About this Event
You will have it ready for summer.
Over four Sunday evenings at Buzz Temple Bar, you will embroider a natural linen tote bag using Sashiko — a Japanese embroidery tradition four hundred years old. By the final session, you will leave with a finished, one-of-a-kind bag in indigo thread on natural linen. Something you made. Something you will carry all summer long.
What is Sashiko?
Sashiko is one of the oldest craft traditions in Japan — rows of small, meditative running stitches that form stunning geometric patterns on fabric. Simple enough for complete beginners. Beautiful enough to carry to dinner. Geometric, rhythmic, and genuinely meditative. Your hands move and your mind goes quiet.
What you will make
Over four evenings, you will embroider a natural linen tote bag using traditional Sashiko patterns. By session four, you will have a finished, one-of-a-kind bag — indigo thread on natural linen — that looks like something from a boutique in Kyoto. It will be the most beautiful tote bag you own. Because you made it.
The experience
A small, intimate group of maximum 10 people. We will guides every session personally — sitting with each person, answering every question, ensuring your bag is something you are genuinely proud of. Good company throughout. This is not a class. It is an experience.
"Relaxing and calming especially after a hectic week. Having a peaceful moment with lovely chit chats is so nice and worth doing." — Marina
"Perfect balance of relaxation and chats — a lovely way to round off the evening." — Chrystele
"Florence is such a patient teacher. She answers all the questions so calmly and you learn a lot in just one class." — Claire
The four sessions
Session 1 — Sunday 17th May The Foundation. Learn the Sashiko running stitch, transfer your geometric pattern, and begin your first rows.
Session 2 — Sunday 24th May The Rhythm. Your hands find the flow. The pattern grows. The meditative state begins to arrive naturally.
Session 3 — Sunday 31st May The Pattern. The full geometric design takes shape — more beautiful than you expected.
Session 4 — Sunday 7th June The Finish. Final stitches, assembled tote bag. You leave holding something you made with your own hands.
