The Summer Light Yoga+Acupuncture Retreat
August 6-8, 2021
Join me for this lovely and relaxing three-day, two-night yoga getaway at the beautiful eco-friendly Blue Mountain Retreat Center in Knoxville, MD (near Harpers Ferry, West Virginia). That's right! We are going back to Blue Mountain! What can I say? We found such a special place and I know there are those of you who want to go again (and again!) or who want to experience it for the first time...Every time at this retreat center and every group is a little different. And every time is amazing. What’s New? I am thrilled to tell you that this time we will be adding a community acupuncture with Jessica Feltz. Enjoy the Sun, the Nature, Yoga, Acupuncture, Meditation, Connection and Community.
Health & Well-being
Everyone’s safety is always our priority. To be able to enjoy our time together in a relaxed and safe manner, ALL the participants will be required to take a COVID-19 test a couple of days prior to the retreat (unless fully vaccinated). All guests are required to use hand sanitizer upon entering. Hand sanitizers will be placed in the bedrooms and communal areas as well as tissues. The retreat center has UV lights that K*ll viruses, bacteria and mold on each of the HVAC units. They completely recirculate and clean the air every 6 hours! It also has a separate UV air filter for the Yoga Room, so the air is being cleaned while practicing yoga.
Yoga
The schedule will include energizing flow yoga practice and meditation in the morning and restorative, gentle, yin and yoga nidra in the evening. There will be a workshop style yoga class in the middle of the day on Saturday. This retreat is suitable for students of all levels and abilities. No yoga experience is necessary or required.
Community Acupuncture
Acupuncture is used to relieve pain and stress, bring emotional ease, support wellness, and nurture ourselves through the ups & downs of our lives. We will be poked by an acupuncturist, Jessica Feltz. Jessica graduated from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine, got licensed as an Acupuncturist in the State of Maryland, and opened The Turning Point in 2007 (in Frederick, MD). Note: acupuncture will be done in a community setting and not individually.
The complementary nature of yoga and acupuncture is reflected in their common goal of releasing stagnation of energy in the meridian systems and their related organs or in the blood. Our overly fast lifestyles, combined with poor eating habits and a polluted environment can create deficiencies that acupuncture and yoga can help to correct and support. While yoga strengthens and stabilizes the flow of qi/prana (life force), acupuncture dramatically enhances one’s healing and overall health goals. Acupuncture will also intensify and speed recovery of each yoga session, helping one to move forward in their health and mental state with clarity, focus and increased sense of well being. Yoga practice and Acupuncture have time tested treatments that date back 5,000 years.
Food
Delicious, home-cooked, organic, gluten free meals are offered with meat, fish and dairy on the side so they are vegan and/or vegetarian friendly.
Everyone is welcome! You are welcome to participate in as much or as little as you like (including acupuncture). There will be an optional hike in the Maryland Heights, free time for being in nature, reading, yoga-ing, connecting with yourself and your friends.
Cost
Cost includes Friday and Saturday night stay, all meals, and all yoga and acupuncture sessions.
