Calling clothes swap enthusiasts! Get ready for the Climate Women ‘Summer Clothes Swap’ – a fundraiser for the Prestonville Great Big Green Weekend.Join us for a fun-filled afternoon where you can trade your pre-loved gorgeous garbs with other climate conscious women. It’s all about sustainable fashion and supporting a great cause!
Our event aims to raise funds for The Real Junk Food Project Brighton, an incredible initiative that intercepts food waste destined for landfill and cooks up delicious dinners for people who need them on a pay-as-you-feel basis. Their motto is that it’s better to ‘feed bellies not bins’ and we couldn’t agree more. This event is also part of the Prestonville Great Big Green Weekend organised by the Exeter Street Hall (for all) and funds raised will also support the wonderful community work they do. By participating in this Climate Women Summer Clothes Swap, you’ll be helping divert some of the 92 million tonnes of clothes that go to landfill each year whilst winning yourself a new wardrobe. Now that’s some guilt-free shopping!
Here’s how it works:
Between 2.30 and 3pm bring in and drop off up to 15 items of your pre-loved, clean, laundered, unwanted clothes or accessories in good condition – something you’d be happy to receive.
You’ll be given a points card, with points for each item you have brought.
Grab yourself a cuppa and cake from the café in Exeter Street Hall (cakes are baked by the wonderful Real Junk Food Project team). This is a chance to meet and mingle with other climate caring women.
At 3.15pm the Climate Women ‘Summer Clothes Swap’ shop will officially open and you can use your points to get yourself some gorgeous ‘new’ gear.
Any additional treasures you fancy (beyond your points’ value) can be swapped for an extra donation to The Real Junk Food Project and Exeter Street Hall.
Once you’ve shwopped until you’ve dropped, join us for more cuppas, cake and chat!
Who knows, you might find your new favourite outfit without costing the earth! It’s a win-win situation for both your wardrobe and the planet. So, mark your calendars and join the Climate Women ‘Summer Clothes Swap’ at the Exeter Street Hall on Sunday June 9th. Let’s have a blast swapping clobber, making new pals, supporting the local community and doing our bit for mother earth. We can’t wait to see you there!
