A meeting for anyone interested in discussing & finding out more about queer platonic co-parenting in Brighton.
About this Event

T his is the third meet-up organised in Brighton. It will be very similar to the previous; a community building & information sharing event, with a view to continuing meetings in the future for people interested in finding others to co-parent with. Everyone is welcome, you do not have to have been to the previous events.

Queer platonic co-parenting is about making a choice to parent with another queer person or people without romantic involvement, where you share the emotional, physical and financial aspects of raising a child together.

This can take many forms and this event is open to different ideas & experiences. There is no set way to do it, so even if you don’t feel like you know exactly what you want or how you would approach this, you’re very welcome.

You can be a prospective co-parent or an existing parent already wishing to involve others. You may want to share parenting responsibilities evenly or you may be looking for a different but committed parent/sharent role.

This event is run by queer people who are also curious about platonic co-parenting and are not experts or specialists in this area. So it will be focused on meeting other people interested in this in Brighton and sharing what knowledge there is in the community.

All LGBTQIA+ people are welcome and this event is not about finding people with specific elements needed to conceive and nobody will be expected to disclose anything about their bodies. Existing queer parents & co-parents are also very welcome, and so are children.

The meeting will take place in The Queery. The Queery is a co-operative & is currently voluntarily run. The space encompasses a queer radical bookshop, a small vegan pay-as-you-feel café and a sober community space for the use of the local queer community. The space will be open to the public, so other people who aren't attending the meeting may be in the space. The event is conversation focused and there is likely to be background noise as well as competing conversation noise, although we will do what we can to minimise this within the meeting. The space is wheelchair accessible and there is an accessible toilet.
