The Canadian folk-pop group is one of those bands that puts you in a good mood as soon as you hear them. This is mainly thanks to their song "Spirits", which was a hit in the international charts in 2016 and comes from their third album "Hope". The very first line "I got guns in my head and they won't go" invites you to sing along. Despite the positivity of their music, their lyrics also deal with personal crises that need to be overcome. Their fifth album "Part Time Believer", released in the spring, is another small milestone in the history of the band, which has now been reduced to a quintet. There have not only been personnel changes after former lead singer Simon Ward announced his retirement in 2022 despite his unconditional love for the band in favor of spending more time with his family but remaining active as a songwriter - the band has also been reborn musically and is making a spectacular return after years of intensive creative work. The Toronto combo around their new lead singer Jimmy Chauveau embodies a rousing mix of country folk that makes it hard to keep still. The tempo is fast, the fun unbroken. On their new album, too, the gripping rhythms shine in bright colors and the song lines capture anthems to sing along to. It is about believing in yourself and choosing optimism even in difficult times. This form of liveliness characterizes the band. The opener "Hold Me" proves this once again, demonstrating the band's talent for catchy songwriting. Now they are back on tour with their latest album and we can look forward to four exuberant and rousing shows in Germany in October.
