After we wrap up 2025 on New Year's Eve at The Central Saloon one of the shows I most excited about is our first show at a wonderful restaurant and venue on Bainbridge Island. It is called The Treehouse Cafe. We are going to jump on that ferry and bring two amazing sets of trail mix of funk, dance rock and soul. But in 2026 we are finally bringing it all back home as a 4 piece. We have new songs to premier and record like "Wendy are We Bad Guys" that we are told is absolute hit.
The band is preparing to support the release of my so called solo album, West Indian Rock that I recorded in Jamaica with the greats. Bainbridge Island great Andrew Joslyn arranged strings on a pair of standout tracks on that album that I plan to play that night with the band. "Bush Doctor" and "Maybe It's Too Late". Both of those songs were written in Kaui and recorded in Kingston at with reggae legend Earl "Chinna" Smith at his home and recording studio known as "Inna Di Yard".
Andrew did me an incredible favor of adding strings. From my studies of Jamaican culture, I knew how much the people of the island cherish string arrangements and the final product is profound.
Look, The Staxx Brothers are a party band. But I've also always hinted that we are a Trojan Horse. I realized at WSU when I started the band that to get great songs and lyrics over, I needed to make those songs something people would dance to. Eventually the quality of songs like "Sugarwalls" and "Keep The Motor Runnin" would be appreciated for the songs that they truly are.
When I chose this particular date with The Treehouse Cafe I expressed my hope we could also make this appearance a bit of a Trojan Horse. I am going to film a podcast with Andrew Joslyn and we are going to talk about some thoughtful things that really matter that I believe will both entertain and educate.
And when we finally hit that stage this April, we are going give the Treehouse Cafe one heck of a dance party.
But I promise that if you if you want to go deeper, if you listen to these songs, and seek more than just the surface entertainment of the spectacle us dancing around and playing our absolute hearts out, we are going to deliver a show that if you choose fully immerse yourself in, it will be something you will never forget.
And if you are on this island and you miss it, it will be something to regret. I waited a long time to share these songs and play with three musicians of this caliber that I love and trust to create new songs.
