About this Event
Conservation pioneer and author W. H. Hudson came to London from Argentina in
1874, living here till his death in 1922. The talk describes his life in London as the only
man supporting the women who founded the RSPB, and his struggle to overcome the
odds of poverty and lack of formal education and establish himself as a figure of such
renown that a monument and sanctuary to his memory was unveiled by Prime Minister
Stanley Baldwin in 1925.
