Jude Rogers is one of the United Kingdom’s best-known arts and culture journalists with two decades of experience writing, interviewing and reviewing for The Guardian, The Observer, The Times and many political, cultural and women’s magazines. She has interviewed artists such as Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, Elton John, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Dolly Parton and Michael Stipe.
Awarded an honorary doctorate by the arts faculty at Coventry University in 2024, Rogers has worked as a senior journalism lecturer in universities across London and in Cheltenham and is a regular contributor to the BBC, for whom she makes popular audio documentaries. This talk will reflect on her critically acclaimed 2022 memoir blending music, journalism and the social sciences—“The Sound of Being Human: How Music Shapes Our Lives”—shortlisted for the Penderyn Music Prize and the Wales Book of the Year Award.
