About this Event
These reading groups focus on collaborative readings of a variety of alternating texts. This week we’ll be looking at two poems from I Hope We Choose Love: A Trans Girl's Notes from the End of the World by Kai Cheng Thom, a collection of poetry and essays that blend the political and confessional and discusses issues around community, crisis, violence and faith.
We’ll send you the readings and have them available on the day. Free but ticketed so we can email you stuff, 7pm at the CCA clubroom as usual.
We will provide print-outs of the work, and the event will begin with a live reading of the texts with a view to including varying modes of reading and engagement. The pieces we read will be decided collaboratively as we go. There is no clear-cut parameters for what we read, but the main point of these events will be a communal engagement with texts by/for/about trans people and trans lives. The space will attempt to offer a warm and comfortable environment to read and discuss writing, unimpeded by the constraints of capitalist expectation. We're excited to welcome you to the space.
