As the Rockaways in Queens, New York grapple with the harsh realities of climate change and coastal erosion, a resilient community unites to safeguard their cherished coastline, illuminating the profound cultural, emotional, and environmental significance of the 'sixth borough.' The film features narration by comedian Elijah Norwood and is directed by Lowel Alomar. Join us on Saturday, October 12th at R.I.S.E Rockaway to watch and discuss this important film with the cast and crew.
Light refreshments will be provided, and attendees can look forward to exclusive swag giveaways from the Black Surfing Association. Additionally, there will be opportunities for Far Rockaway residents aged 12 to 18 to sign up for complimentary swimming classes with Ocean Olympia.
After the screening, join us for a community Q&A session featuring the documentary’s Director and Editor, Lowel Alomar, where you can engage in meaningful discussions and gain deeper insights into the film.
