A Tapped In Talk with Hugo Cook
A lecture in a pub with a nice cold beverage... what more could you want? 🍻 We're swapping whiteboards for bar stools and boring PowerPoints for pints.

The pyramids of Egypt have towered over humanity for more than 4,500 years - but how were they really built, why did the Egyptians build them that way, and are there any secrets still hidden inside them?

From the brilliantly aligned stone blocks to the astronomical alignment used to build these tombs, and from the claims of curses to the real police baboons (yes, police baboons) used to guard them, the pyramids have left countless civilisations awestrucks. But what can ancient Egyptian texts tell us about the treasures they once buried inside the pyramids, the genius with which they built them, and the ordinary people who created wonders? What happened to the mummies once buried within? Why did pharaohs start building these strange tombs, and then stop? Were they really built by the enslaved? And what do the hieroglyphs carved within them say?

Join us for a visual, accessible and wonder-striking journey into the science, symbolism and speculation behind the most iconic structures ever built. Through imagery, storytelling and modern archaeological discoveries, we’ll peel back the layers of myth to uncover what we actually know about the pyramids - and what still puzzles experts. ✨
