🎨 She’s and They’s in Art History – Teens (Ages 13–17)
Finding Your Voice Through Overlooked Artists
For young people ready to go beyond “the usual suspects” in art history, this 6-week course shines a light on incredible women and non-binary artists who challenged the rules and found their own voice. From Frida Kahlo's powerful portraits to Hilma AF Klimt's symbolism, each week teens will:
- Discover the life and work of a boundary-breaking artist (Alma Thomas, Frida Kahlo, Maria Prymachenko, Hilma AF Klimt, Georgia O'Keefe, Lois Mailou Jones)
- Try out their style and techniques in painting, drawing, or mixed-media
- Explore mindfulness practices that reduce stress and fuel creativity
- Reflect on their own identity, voice, and ideas
- Curate and share their own mini-exhibition at the end of the course
A perfect blend of art making, history, and self-expression – helping teens build creative confidence in a supportive, mindful space.
