About this Event
In 2020, Fr Stan Swamy SJ, an Indian Jesuit, was arrested and jailed after being fasely accused of 'unlawful activities' against the state. He died a year later after contracting Covid-19.
Alpa Shah, a Professor of Anthropology at the London School of Economics, has written The Incarcerations: BK-16 and the Search for Democracy in India, which looks at Fr Swamy's case - and those of others accused of similar crimes.
Join Jesuit Missions for a talk on her book, which will be followed by a Q+A session, at the Aula Magna in the London Jesuit Centre on Monday, 8th July 2024.
The event is free to attend, and refreshments will be provided. For more information, visit jesuitmissions.org.uk/events or contact us at [email protected]
