About this Event
Hailing from Lincolnshire, duo The Rye Sisters perform a heady mix of country, old time and bluegrassy numbers from upbeat dancing tunes to mournful ballads all in close harmony to guitar and fiddle. In December 2023, they released their latest album ‘Distant Light’ hailed by Fatea Records as a ‘terrific discovery’ and by Americana UK as ‘full of intrigue and satire, heartache and resilience’. With a brand new clutch of originals that they hope to record soon, they can’t wait to take 2026, their 10th anniversary year, by the horns and wow you with a perfect combination of soulful story-telling and that signature, sweet vocal blend.
This summer The Rye Sisters perform at The Gate to Southwell, Knutsford, Common Folk, Hexham Bluegrass, ‘Off the Tracks’ and Derby Folk festivals. At many of these, they will be inspiring audiences to join them in harmony singing workshops. Check out other local performances at more intimate venues and folk clubs near you. Sue and Ishani team up regularly with composer and Fabulous Festival Choir man, Roger Jackson, and often team teach at events such as 'Three Days in May' (www.sing.co.uk), 'Folk on the Farm and Sing in the Swiss Alps.
