You are most warmly welcome to come along either to sing, or just to be present, for this very, very special celebration. An incredible achievement of the Rudgates providing Liturgical Music to congregations throughout the UK and beyond! During the past 30 years, we have sung mainly in churches (Catholic, Anglican and Orthodox) as well as Abbeys, Priories, and some Cathedrals, the biggest venue by far, both in size and importance, being the inaugural St Margaret Clitherow Pilgrimage Mass held in York Minster. At the moment, we don't know whether the Bishop of the Forces will be able to attend, so can't yet confirm whether the Mass will be Pontifical or not. It is also possible that the Ukrainian Catholic Bishop of the Eparchy of the Holy Family may be attending. The Icon of Our Lady of Victories, brought from Ukraine to the UK and currently on display at the UK Forces Cathedral in Aldershot, will be on display in the church, alongside an Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour and the Mass will conclude with an edited version in Ukrainian of the Sub tuum praesidium (the oldest known Marian prayer) by Dmitry Bortniansky.
We're trying to reach out to everyone who has been involved with us over the last three decades, including singing with us informally during the Covid Lockdowns. You're all very welcome to take part!
Music during the Mass will include the Proper of the Day from the Graduale Romanum, and, of course, by tradition, the Anniversary Mass will be Palestrina's Missa Papae Marcelli! Motets will be Victoria's Ave Maria and Byrd's Ave Verum, both sung at the inaugural Mass 30 years ago.
We know that this is still a few months away, but as it's such an important anniversary, we're publicising it now in order to give people as much notice as possible!
