THE ROOM AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS : Exploring the Music of Our Dreams
A One-Man Musical Show by Phillip Bennett
Have you ever had a dream so powerful that it stays with you all your life? I had one such dream as I began therapy with the Jungian analyst June Singer when I was 27. The dream showed me a room at the top of the stairs where there was a locked door, behind which lay the music of wholeness and creativity. Carl Jung believed that finding our own way of being in the world (what he called “individuation”) is a key task of our life. This dream and many others pointed the way toward healing and integration, but it was to be a long, sometimes challenging journey. This one-man show will interweave dreams and original songs to explore the journey we all must make to find our unique identity. Come join me for an evening of adventure into the land of our dreams!
“The gifts of darkness are full of riddles. The way is open to whomever can continue in spite of the riddles…There are dizzying bridges over the eternally deep abyss… Protect the riddles in your heart, warm them, be pregnant with them. Thus you carry the future.”
Carl Jung, The Red Book
