About this Event
About this event
We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting a joint workshop with the charities involved in gardening/planting to discuss Sustainable Gardening . This event will take place in person on Thursday 30th June 17:00-19:00. The event will be held at UCL BaseKX.
What do networks of community gardeners, universities and individuals can do to co-create our feature planet?
At this in-person roundtable, we will convene community gardens for an afternoon of learning, sharing, and networking. A short presentation by our key speakers will put forward ideas about securing funding and volunteers, as a basis for broader discussion with the attendees. This session will focus on areas such as strategic development, budgeting, and team management but we will be led by the group on specific questions and areas for discussion.
The garden has long been recognised as a powerful spatial metaphor that has been used to represent sets of relations between nature, society, and culture. Sustainable gardening is a must in today's community gardening. It has a lot of benefits as well. 'Doing Your Bit', itself can be satisfying as environmental problems hit the news headlines almost every day. However, even bigger rewards for small communities could be beautifying the landscape, making fresh produce accessible, and building stronger communities.
This workshop will cover:
• What is sustainable gardening?
• Some useful frameworks and standards to co-create a greener feature.
• Why to have a community gardens network and how to create one.
What will I learn?
This interactive session will explore these questions and will help you to create a practical action plan for sustainable gardening.
